Supporting Your Child’s Learning Beyond the Classroom
Some children are able to understand lessons but still experience difficulties with focus, organisation, following instructions, or applying what they have learned in class. These challenges are often related not only to subject knowledge, but to the learning processes that support effective learning.

Working in Alignment with Schools
Your child’s school may recommend external learning intervention to support these learning processes. This page introduces Cognitive Development Learning Centre, an external learning support provider that works in alignment with schools.

Who We Are
Cognitive Development Learning Centre
Supports children who experience learning difficulties by strengthening the cognitive and learning processes that underpin effective learning.

Our Approach to Learning Support
Rather than reteaching school content, we focus on helping children develop the ability to:
Focus and sustain attention
Organise tasks and learning materials
Remember and apply instructions
Learn more independently and confidently
We are not a tuition centre and not a therapy provider. Our role is to support children in becoming more effective learners, so they can better access classroom learning.
How We Support Your Child’s Learning
Support is personalised based on your child’s learning needs and may include the following areas.
Learning Focus & Executive Function Skills
Some children understand concepts but struggle with attention, organisation, or task completion. We support the development of learning-related executive function skills, such as:
Improving attention and task focus
Strengthening working memory for instructions and learning tasks
Developing organisation, planning, and task completion skills
Building self-monitoring and learning independence
These skills help children learn more effectively across subjects.
Reading, Writing & Spelling
We support children in strengthening literacy foundations, including:
- Reading accuracy and comprehension
- Written expression and spelling
- Language-based learning skills
Support focuses on building confidence and accuracy, rather than exam preparation.

Concept Understanding & Gap-Filling
Some learning difficulties arise from gaps in foundational understanding. We help children:
Clarify misunderstandings in key learning areas
Reinforce concepts needed for classroom learning
Apply learning strategies across subjects
How We Complement the School
Our support is designed to work alongside school learning, not replace it.
The school remains responsible for:
- Curriculum delivery
- Teaching and assessment
- Academic reporting
Cognitive provides:
- External learning intervention
- Learning and executive function strategy support
- Descriptive progress feedback (non-diagnostic)
Support focuses on learning behaviours and strategies and does not involve diagnosis or clinical treatment.
